The Punniest Girl in the World

Today’s poster is not so much a poster as a terrible pun that popped into my head due to too much fandom. Sorry for the lack of legitimate poster-making.

I’m considering taking a hiatus on this blog to a) work on some longer form poster projects and b) work on some of my other summer projects. Like my internship that I’m starting in a week. Or my thesis, which I am simultaneously excited about and dreading.

I might change my mind tomorrow, though so no guarantees. Otherwise sparse updating coming your way.

About the Poster: The first image is from Wikimedia Commons. The second is a promotional picture for the BBC show Sherlock. I have no rights to that. The font is Goudy Bookletter 1911, distributed by The League of Moveable Type.

The Lonely King

Like I said here, I finally got around to trying to figure out a wallpaper version of this. I changed the color scheme and the photo style a little bit too.

About the Poster: The typefaces are, once again, Times New Roman and Helvetica Neue.

Monarchist Tendencies

I was trying to make a wallpaper out of this. It didn’t work out composition-wise, but I have this instead. I’ll figure out a wallpaper later.

Circus Circus

Look! It’s a poster! I told dear Meryl a while ago (basically a year ago now) that I would do a circus side-show inspired poster. So here it is this one, in the midst of my Sherlocking.

About the Typefaces: The typefaces are Carnivalee Freakshow (which is a name I feel weird about) and Cast Iron.

The Moriarty Dance

So I am in the middle of this moment where I can’t tell if I just want to make gifs all day, or if I just can’t think of any poster inspiration. I don’t know if I need to just sit down and brainstorm about posters, or just veg out and not think about posters until inspiration strikes. Oh well, another gif today.

About the Typeface: Helvetica Neue has become my default lazy typeface. But also, isn’t Helvetica just the typeface of memes though?

Carly Rae Sherlock

So just a simple little thing this time. Back to Sherlocking, though. I apologize for any pain this causes anyone in the form of either a terrible song stuck in their head or meme overload.

About the Typeface: Helvetica Neue again!

It is rather difficult to find a good way to combine the words Mad Men and Sherlock. But not so difficult to combine poster aesthetics!

So maybe the instagram-esque, wedding invitation-style posters were getting a little excessive. So I went back to the minimalism. I was looking at screenshots for Sherlock and realized that one of them could be used for something that looks like the rather controversial poster for the latest season of Mad Men. Not that I’ve caught up to that or anything. Still in the middle of Season 4 or something.

About the Typeface: It’s Helvetica Neue. Old friend!
